Southwest Freightlines
is seeking a dependable and experienced Trailer Safety Lane Inspector / Mechanic to join our maintenance team in El Paso, TX. This position is responsible for performing DOT-level safety inspections and completing necessary trailer repairs to ensure every trailer leaving our yard is safe, compliant, and road-ready.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of trailer systems and the ability to perform both inspections and hands-on repairs efficiently and accurately.
Responsibilities
• Perform DOT safety inspections on trailers prior to dispatch.
• Inspect and repair brakes, suspension, tires, lights, air lines, landing gear, doors, and flooring.
• Accurately complete all inspection checklists and safety lane logs.
• Communicate inspection results and repair needs to the shop foreman or shop manager.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Assist with preventive maintenance (PMs) and light welding or fabrication as needed.
• Ensure all trailers meet company and DOT standards before release.
Requirements
• Minimum 2 years of trailer mechanic or DOT inspection experience.
• Strong understanding of trailer systems and repair procedures.
• Ability to identify issues quickly and perform necessary repairs safely.
• Must have own basic tools and reliable transportation.
• Dependable, safety-focused, and detail-oriented.
• Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
