This is from Yamaha’s Silent-TransAcoustic Series — an acoustic hybrid piano. It gives the player both a high-quality acoustic piano and the additional features of a modern digital piano, in a single instrument.
When needed, you can play/practice in complete privacy using the built-in digital piano tone module. When you activate the SILENT Piano feature, the hammers are prevented from hitting the strings and optical sensors take over, sending your key movements to the digital piano which you can hear through headphones. When playing silently, you still have the benefit and pleasure of playing the real mechanical acoustic action — not a digital facsimile.
In addition to being equipped with “Silent” technology, Yamaha has made this “TransAcoustic” by adding two electro-magnetic transducers that convert the piano’s soundboard into a mechanical speaker!
The player can now either play silently with earphones, or layer in the various digital piano voices and hear them emanating from the soundboard itself — with or without the real acoustic sound.
This piano is in like-new condition, only a few years old. It’s perfect for a dedicated player from beginner to advanced, for a composer using MIDI, and anyone that desires playing silently from time to time.
