Since 1885 Schimmel has been handcrafting classic grand and vertical pianos adhering to the very high standards established by the top European builders in the 19th Century. Founded in Leipzig, Germany, Schimmel is now headquartered in Braunschweig and is still a family-owned business, in its fourth generation.
Unlike most European makers, Schimmel early on embraced modern computer-aided technology that greatly improved all aspects of piano making from acoustic research, cabinet design, and component building. They are now the most highly awarded German piano.
