My late father served on the U.S.S. Fletcher during the Korean War, from 4/6/1948 - 4/16/1951 . He was the electric engineer and progressed to Chief Petty Officer before he left the Navy.
His “Report of Separation from the Armed Forces of the United States” mentions that he received a “China Service Medal,” “Navy Occupation Medal (Asia Clasp),” "UN Ribbon Korean Service Medal," and "Good Conduct Medal."
I tried Googling items in the collection (had to remove what turned out to be his Cub Scout patch :). Below is what I found:
White Sailors Dixie Cup Hat
Chief Petty Officer (CPO) rate patch.
United States Navy Occupation Service Medal (on ribbon with Asia Clasp). This medal was established for Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard personnel for occupation service in designated European and Asian regions during and after World War II
The light blue and white striped ribbon is likely the United Nations Korea Medal. The stars on the ribbons indicate additional awards or service.
The red ribbons with white stripes are Good Conduct Medal ribbons.
I’m not too sure what the blue ribbon and yellow striped ribbons are.
